Australian architects visit Edouard Herriot (Lyon)

A visit to Pavillon H at the Edouard Herriot Hospital in Lyon (HCL) and a sunny finale on the helipad

This week, architects and doctors from Australia and New Zealand came to discover French architecture and the French hospital system. After an informative presentation on the history of the site, from the work of Tony Garnier to the recent modernisation of the building, the group had the opportunity to explore the interior of pavilion H: visit to the outpatient department, critical care, emergency scanner, operating theatres and finally the helipad.

Many thanks to Valérie Durand Roche, Director of the Edouard Herriot Hospital at HCL, who made this visit possible.

Thanks to Bruno Cazabat (Director of Technical Affairs at HCL and President of the IHF), Alain Benini (Architect Engineer at HCL), Emmanuel Richard (Engineer at HCL) and Robin Thollot (Director of WSP France) for their presence and their technical input on the building.

Thanks to JC. Dumes (Senior Manager of the URMARS Unit), S. Bonjour (Senior Operating Room Manager), Marion Constantin (Intensive Care Nurse), Elisabeth Zorzo Vincente Arche (Nurse) and the nursing staff we met during the site visit.

Finally, I would like to thank Michel Verheem (Director of ID-LAB Australia) and his colleagues for coming all this way to see the unique architecture of Pavillon H.

The Pavillon H modernisation project was carried out by the Michel Remon & Associes studio between 2013 and 2018.
