Many of the terms associated with hospitals remind us of their historical foundations. "Hôtel-Dieu", "Hospices", "Assistance", or the adjective "hospitalier" in general, are all expressions that make us spontaneously associate the idea of hospital with that of hospitality. Hospitality is an ambivalent concept, the full complexity of which is played out in the hospital to enable, but also to enrich, care. It means giving the patient a place and a role in the institution, and at the same time going beyond that role and arranging his or her place so that he or she can share with the carers and even take part in the care.
